Another Saturday night...

Well, this really ought to be Lia's post, but here I am again. Eli is recovering very well from what we pray will be her final surgery: she has yet to puke and a terrific bilateral blowout this morning confirmed that her bowels are in good order. As of now she is not attached to any machines, so Lia can move her freely about the cabin; this afternoon they took a walk as har away as the elevators, next to which stands a large window through which they looked longingly out over lovely New Haven, though Eli seemed riveted by the cranes and whatnot at the construction site adjacent to the hospital.
On the homefront, Nin and I (with a good deal of help from our friend and ward member, Travis Sevy, and our neighbor, Mahan) fought a mostly winning against a recalcitrant table which we may, at this juncture, christen with the august adjective of "assembled." In the meantime Julia and Mayah Sevy shared toys and clashed egos merrily on toward naptime.
We had a shorter hospital visit than usual this evening because we tried to get back in time for Nin to listen to the General Relief Society broadcast online (I cheated and eavesdropped on President Hinckley's talk; don't tell anyone).
Everything we've heard today seems to confirm tomorrow as the much anticipated Homecoming date. Nin has put forth a mighty effort to get the apartment immaculately clean before Lia and Eli's return; Julia and I have surreptitiously sought to sabotage her efforts but with only middling success.
We hope to report the best of news tomorrow.

What wonderful news! We are deeply touched by the thought of your family being able to return home again! We are so proud of each and every one of you. Justin, we do not know how you do it. With all that is going on, it is easy to forget that you are currently enrolled in YALE LAW SCHOOL! Hello! We love you and will continue to pray for your family and that sweet little angel of yours. Thanks for your messages of hope! We'll be celebrating with you tomorrow. Congratulations Eli!

Hooray for the final surgery!!! It will be so good for you to all be home again! We'll keep our fingers and toes crossed! We also assembled our table today (what a coincidence!). Trevor, too, had a really tough time. We accidentally got the minus screws instead of the plus ones and apparently that makes it really hard with the drill. Anyway, good luck with Eli! We continue to pray!

What great news! Being cord free and on the brink of going home . . . what more could a little ask for (aside from the obvious answer of never having been attached to cords or away from home in the first place). Our thoughts are with you.
