Andiamo fuori

My kids know that I love an adventure. Here's Julia's account of one a few weeks ago:

"Today Mom decided to figure out the bus system. The plan was 1) we walk up to the bus stop 2) get on the bus 3) buy a bus pass while on the bus 4) get off at the restaurant 5) get a treat 6) call Dad and have him take us home. We missed the bus; rather, the bus missed us; rather, it didn't show up. Rather, it was a mess. OK, whatever. Forget the bus. So we decided to change the plan
1) Walk the 2.6 km to the restaurant 2) get a treat and figure out the bus 3) call Dad and have him take us home.

We ran into Dad just as we reached the base of the hill.  Kids 2-5 hopped in and drove up. Now the plan looked like this:

1) Walk the rest of the way 2) Figure out the bus 3) Walk home.

The restaurant was closed. We didn't get bus tickets. The bus system was all Greek to me, buy luckily Mom majored in Classics, so I think she figured something out. We turned around and called Dad, who informed us that, contrary to our belief, he did not have a key to the house, and was locked out with four angelic children, all of whom were tired and cold. So we scurried up ye mountain and let them in. The house was gloriously warm, and Mom made mac'n'cheese for dinner. It was a wonderful day."
