All the celebrations happened yesterday. Early in the morning Elinor had a soccer game and Abdiel had a piano performance evaluation that were both happening at around the same time but on completely opposite ends of the valley. We divided and conquered, and conquered they did; Elinor's team won probably around 15-1 (but who's counting?), and Abdiel was chosen to participate in the Honors Recital later this month for his smashing performance.
The fun continued: around 12:30 Justin, Katharine, Gwyn, and Elinor headed down to LaVell Edwards stadium for the little girls to meet up with Elisabeth while Katharine and Justin headed to the box to watch the BYU v. Arizona Homecoming football game. Elisabeth gave up her excellent ROC seat to come sit with the little girls in the Ubox seats and led the crew in securing refill after refill of blue Powerade. She reported that after 96 oz., their tongues were still their native rosy color, but after 128 oz, they had finally turned Cougar Blue. A worthy science experiment on a fine fall day.
Justin and Katharine reported that five of the Twelve came to enjoy this afternoon game played by our 5-0 team. President Holland kissed Justin on the cheek as well as Katharine's hand and Elder Christofferson commented to Justin that he is with a different woman every time he sees him. Justin's colleagues found this riotously funny.
While BYU was securing a 41-19 victory over Arizona, Abdiel was making his own mark on the football field. Lia took Gabriel and Miriam down to Salem to watch Abdiel score one of his two touchdowns and take down many a sorry Payson player. The scoreboard read 32-0 when she arrived just after halftime. Payson figured out not to send their guys Abdiel's way by the time she had gotten there, but he still managed to cross the field and take down a few unsuspecting receivers who had slipped by their defenders. Abdiel's highlight from the game: doing the griddy after his second touchdown, per his coach's request, but to the ref's dismay because he gave him an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
Justin and the girls left the game once the victory was clenched in order to make it home for a Boyz Nite: an Imagine Dragons concert with Abdiel, five of his friends, and some of their parents. Justin sent back videos of the boys singing their little hearts out along with a packed crowd of Firebreathers. Abdiel can't wait to attend another concert. 
Lia was utterly exhausted after facilitating so much fun for everyone on Saturday, so after church Justin took the younger kids (including Miriam, though she isn't pictured) to our favorite Big Springs park. Gabriel was a fabulous hiker, and they even ran into three women visiting from St. George, one of whom, Sarah Sparks, even lives in Lia's parents' old ward.
As the pictures show, a great time was had by all.
Other highlights from the week: Lia taking Abdiel around the neighborhood to do practice performances so his evaluations would go well; Justin taking Elisabeth to the Truman G. Madsen Eternal Man lecture Thursday night to hear the Reverend Dr. Andrew Teale (this was where Elder Christofferson saw Justin with yet another woman); Elisabeth scoring the last Kirkland brand of pots and pans from Costco, which the employee had to cut down from the hanging shelves for her to take home; Elisabeth picking Gwyn and Elinor up from school and taking them and Gabriel to the library so Lia could attend her monthly Orem City Arts Council meeting; Katharine finishing two more days of driver's ed; implementing our response to President Eyring's talk from General Conference by Justin and Lia taking back all the lesson teaching at Family Home Evening; and report card time. All the kids worked very hard and are very ready for a Fall break.
