The letter below, purportedly written by Eli's hand, was erroneously inserted into the annals of this illustrious blog through the negligent oversight of a junior editor. This junior editor has been unceremoniously sacked. We, the senior editors, do the writing around here, and our readers can rest assured that next week's post will follow the format to which they are accustomed. We allow the intrusive post to stand as it is because it narrates essentially, though in an inferior style to be sure (Eli's still young), those events we would have narrated ourselves had we not been mischievously preempted. But make no mistake, this will never happen again.
